Crafted with Horween Chromexcel Leather
Leather sandals have always been one of our best-selling items during the summer season. This year, we’ve made a major upgrade to bring a whole new level of comfort and wearing experience.
The upper is crafted from Horween Chromexcel (CXL) leather from the U.S., lined with soft cushioning foam for extra comfort. The footbed is made with suede leather to increase grip and prevent slipping. We’ve also slightly lowered the instep panel to reduce friction at the toe and split area. These adjustments keep the sandals securely in place, minimizing unnecessary movement and helping to reduce fatigue while walking.
The Summer Sandals feature uppers made with Horween Chromexcel (CXL) leather.
Founded in 1905 in Chicago, Horween Leather Company has long been known for its heritage of traditional craftsmanship and premium quality. Chromexcel, or CXL as we know it, was first developed around 1913—originally for mechanical uses such as automotive engine seals. During World War I, it gained wide recognition for its durability.
What makes Chromexcel truly exceptional is its unique combination of vegetable tanning and chrome tanning, merging the toughness of veg-tan with the softness and natural comfort of chrome-tan. On top of that, Horween uses its exclusive hot-stuffing process, infusing the leather with oils and waxes to create remarkable flexibility and the signature pull-up effect—where bending the leather lightens its color, revealing rich depth and character.
Even today, Chromexcel is still made by hand in Horween’s Chicago tannery, following time-honored methods. More than just visually appealing, it is a leather built to endure, aging beautifully with wear and developing a personality entirely of its own.
